| Okay Cyndi, here you go... Three things I'm thankful for. 1. My two beautiful girls. Megan and Madeline have given me plenty of challenges, but they are the two best things in my life. We enjoy each other and have wonderful talks about life, and I'm so blessed to have them. I look forward to being close with them for the rest of my life. 2. My marriage. Even though I don't always like him. My dh has been a great support to me this past year with my teaching and working on my master's degree. Now if he'd only help out more around the house without me telling him. 3. My two jobs. I'm lucky, not only do I have one job I enjoy doing as an emergency room and ICU nurse, I also get to help train future nurses. Sometimes it is so hard when they are not motivated, but when you have a group of young and enthusiastic students it just recharges you and makes you love nursing even more. Helping someone in their time of need is very rewarding and I'm glad I have the career that I do. Here's who should tell 3 things they are thankful for next. Darla, Chris and Julie. | | |
| Hello, I'm back. We've been out and about traveling. Saw King Tut in Chicago, visited family for the holidays and now we're home. Madeline and I have been battling colds every since. When we stopped at my family for christmas of course EVERYONE was hacking up a lung. Joy!! I bought my husband a new trumpet. A really cool Mike Vax model that he loves. He's been practicing everyday. He plays all these cool jazz and swing stuff along with the Flight of the BumbleBee. He bought me an acoustic guitar for xmas and I've been busy trying to teach myself to play. The girls got lots of fun stuff too so all is good. Yesterday we packed all the christmas stuff and put it away. It is amazing how bare everything looks and how much more space is in the living room without the tree. | | |
| Ahhh, thank goodness it's Sunday. I'm just relaxing with my coffee after a busy week, of which it is only going to get much busier. Both of the girls decided they wanted to be cheerleaders AND basketball players. So now the 3-4 times a week of practices begin. It's funny hearing them come home after cheerleading and doing their little cheers and chants. So cute, because my children excel in drama and that makes for the perfect cheerleader. Yesterday was the first basketball practice. My dh was the lucky one assigned to drop off and pick up. When they got home he described how good they both were. They are the little ball stealers who take it away and run off and make a basket. I think Megan is coming down with a cold though, because when she got home from practice yesterday she was so exhausted. I guess Madeline was running laps after practice "for fun". Weirdo! I am enjoying this stage of parenting where they are exceling in school and getting involved with school activities. Neither my dh or I were involved much in sports so it is very cool to see how talented they are in yet another aspect. Not to brag, but it is so amazing for me to have kids who do well academically, are musically gifted and then atheletic to boot. I just don't know how the heck that happened, but I'm just so proud of them. | | |
| Well I'm happy that my teaching semester is coming to a close. Just one more lecture and then the final next week. Yay!! It's been a great learning experience for me, and I already have 40 more students signed up for next semester. We finally have snow that will stick around. Yesterday somewhere in the vicinity of 2 am and 6 am it snowed more than 18 inches. Makes it all pretty and picturesque outside. My dh put up the christmas lights and it all looks so pretty. I'm actually looking forward to christmas now. I am buying my dh a gift he is going to adore me for. I'm spending big bucks on a professional trumpet for him. He has one that he's had since high school and now there is one even better and I'm going to surprise him with it. I can't wait for him to see it. Now to get a move on and finish all the rest of the shopping and baking. | | |
| You know how I complained about my graduate studies?? Well today I have good news. I got my work done in both classes so I'm officially done for the semester. Remember the one instructor who couldn't make up her mind? Well after submitting my 2nd draft she accepted it. I even got a 96% on it. This is cause for celebration. Must go crack open the bottle of wine. Thank god that's done till January, when I'm sure I'll be here to whine and complain about it again. You know that is what students must do! | | |
